Ways to Distribute: Tableau

Tableau varies in distribution that differs in interactivity,security and data freshness.

Images and PDF are static they do not contain any underlying data which cannot be edited.



That is, they are the snapshots taken at particular time.

Workbooks packaged can used to share to others.
 Tableau reader and Tableau desktop.

Tableau reader where we can read and interact but cant be edited.Tableau desktop where we can read,interact and edit workbooks.

Workbooks can be published to tableau online/server with security,full interactivity and schedule to
have refresh.
Packaged workbook contains the underlying data and non packaged workbook does not contain underlying data.

For publishing views go to worksheet to Export image (legends,layout,title) options
For publishing dashboards ..go to dashboard export image and same story publishing

Workbooks can be published to tableau online /server with security, full interactivity and live to data source.

Workbooks:

saved in .twb format (data connections and construction of the views. When opening the twb file it should contain same data source.
saves in .twbx format (contains the backend informations)-it is packaged workbooks.
